In implementation of the instructions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and based on the directives of the President of Ashur University, Prof. Dr. (Kadhum Abboud Al-Majidi), and under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. (Rana Salam Amanah), which include carrying out various activities that reflect the activities of the university's colleges, the College of Law held a scientific workshop on Saturday 10/26/2024 entitled (Legal and International Mechanisms in Combating and Preventing Drugs), delivered by (Assistant Professor Muhammad Khadir Al-Anbari, Assistant Professor Samer Hazem Ali), where the workshop was divided into three axes. The first axis defined drugs and psychotropic substances and their harmful impact on societies, especially the youth group. As for the second axis, it dealt with international treaties and mechanisms of international cooperation in it to reduce this scourge that is tearing societies apart, while the third axis dealt with; Iraqi national legislation related to the prevention of drug trafficking, including a brief explanation of some provisions of Law No. (50) of 2017 (Law to Combat Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances), and the workshop concluded with a number of recommendations of an international and national nature, and included a number of questions, comments and opinions from the attendees, attended by the Dean and professors of the College of Law and a number of students of the college.
