Ashur University holds a cultural symposium on “Education in the Japanese Way” in cooperation with JICA
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Kazem Al-Majidi, President of Ashur University, and in cooperation with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the university organized a cultural symposium entitled “Education in the Japanese Way” on Thursday, February 20, 2025, organized by the Missions and Cultural Relations Division.
The symposium was attended by the Head of the JICA Office in Iraq, Mr. Hirsch Suzuki, and his deputy, along with a group of agency members, a group from Education Company, and others from Sardar Automobile Group.
The lecture was presented by Professor Hirsch Sukita, reviewing Japanese educational methods, with a comment from Dr. Alaa Al-Amiri from Al-Mustansiriya University. The symposium was moderated by Prof. Dr. Qabila Faris, Director of the Missions and Cultural Relations Division, who coordinated the symposium’s segments, which included opening remarks by the University President and the Head of the JICA Office. The symposium also witnessed simultaneous translation between Japanese and Arabic, in addition to translation between Arabic and English to ensure the facilitation of discussions.
The symposium was preceded by a meeting between the Japanese delegation and the President of Ashur University to discuss opportunities for academic cooperation, including signing memoranda of understanding on student and academic exchange and implementing joint scientific activities.
The Missions and Cultural Relations Division evaluated the symposium as a successful step towards enhancing international academic cooperation, stressing the importance of exchanging educational experiences with international institutions in a way that contributes to developing the university environment and raising the level of education at the university.
Ashur University continues its efforts to expand its scientific and cultural partnerships at the local, Arab and international levels, in support of its academic and research progress.
