Under the patronage of the respected President of Ashur University, Prof. Dr.Kadhum Abboud Al-Majidi, whose presence was a distinguished scientific addition to the workshop through scientific questions that indicate a distinguished knowledge and awareness of Islamic architecture. The workshop, through its presenter, Prof. Dr. Qabila Faris Hamoud, supported by historical facts and architectural evidence from China in the east, from the borders of the Islamic state to Andalusia in the west, attempted to explain the reasons for the association of the arch with Islamic architecture, although the semicircular arch was used more than seven thousand years BC in Mesopotamia with all its civilizations, then during the Roman and Byzantine eras and until the end of the Umayyad era of Islamic architecture. The workshop explained that Islamic architecture was not the first to use the arch, but it was the innovator and creator of all forms of the arch in architecture that were born from the end of the Umayyad era and the beginning of the Abbasid era.
