A private academic institution for higher education of public benefit that was established in Baghdad in 2022 as one of the departments of Ashur University College, and studies in it will begin on 02/10/2022. .
The department’s mission is to prepare qualified and specialized scientific cadres and cadres in the field of physical education and sports sciences and to qualify students from the department’s graduates with information and special skills in the field of physical education and sports sciences and prepare them to contribute to the advancement of school sports and community health, as well as the number of researchers in the field of sports sciences to improve sports movement Iraq at various levels. Supporting the labor market for all institutions related to the sports field and educational or competitive performance. The department also works to raise the level of service and advisory for the local and regional community through developing the teaching profession and serving the civil labor market, and contributes to providing services and research consultancy in specialized theoretical and practical fields related to training and teaching programs Qualifying scholars, researchers, and scientific trainers in this department to compete in the country’s labor market, as it earns the trust of society by raising the level of distinguished services for individuals and contributing to the investment of leisure time.

The Department of Physical Education and Sports Science aims to achieve the following purposes and functions:
Preparing specialized cadres in the field of physical education to work in various community institutions within one of the following areas:
Teaching physical education.
Sports training.
Sports management.
The number of qualified academic staff to work in the fields of scientific research and sports training to develop the reality of Iraqi sports and to prepare specialists in sports health, sports movement sciences, sports psychology, sports recreation, sports medicine and rehabilitation according to the disciplines taught in the department.
Conducting research and studies in various fields of physical education and sports sciences.
Providing scientific advice and cooperation with governmental and private bodies and institutions, scientific, sports and youth at the Arab and international levels in the study of sports issues to achieve common goals in various fields of physical education.
Contribute to the dissemination of sports culture and work to make sports one of the important means of bringing people closer.
Work to develop the sports movement for all sectors of the state, in cooperation with the concerned authorities (the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Committee).
Providing scientific and applied services and refining and qualifying workers in the sports field through the development that took place in specialized laboratory equipment and therapeutic and medical rehabilitation.
Contribute to the leadership of the sports movement through qualitative scientific staff.
Contribute to community service through education for practicing sports and its positive effects on public health (spreading health awareness for exercising) for the individual and developing physical education curricula to serve the progress and advancement of society.
