The Department of Architecture seeks seriously and carefully to prepare Iraqi architects with distinguished scientific experience, distinguished by leadership and creativity, able to keep pace with global developments and benefit from them in promoting Iraqi architectural values, which crystallize to establish an Iraqi architectural school that seeks to consolidate local, regional and international concepts of architecture. Be able to harmonize authenticity and modernity and keep pace with all technological developments.
The department carefully seeks to be open to the local community, whether through scientific research or through student projects that are closely related to reality and directed to meet the needs and aspirations of the local community.
The Department of Architecture at Assyria University includes distinguished academics in their specialties, and it also plans to invite distinguished practitioners to give scientific lectures and hold specialized scientific workshops for students.
The department was established at the university in the academic year 2023-2024.
The study in it adopts the Bologna track system (semesters) with all its specifications and characteristics, where the approved units for the department amount to 300 European units (each European unit corresponds to 25 hours) and the study extends over five years (ten semesters). The department currently awards the first university degree (Bachelor) in the field of architecture. The department, based on the university’s directives, was concerned with preparing a study plan and curriculum that is compatible with the study plan of the Department of Architecture at Al-Mustansiriya University according to the twinning system. Thus, the department’s study plan and curriculum take into account the complementarity between practicing the profession, technical skills, and the student’s architectural cognitive framework to keep pace with the development of labor market needs, as well as Harmonizing with the changes of the times, in order to achieve its vision, mission and objectives, emanating from the vision, mission and objectives of the university and higher education.
The study program in the Department of Architecture combines theoretical knowledge with practical and applied skills, which has led the university to pay great attention to the infrastructure and equipment required in teaching the theoretical and practical requirements of the specialization. The department benefits from supportive educational means, as the university provides computerized and visual educational media for various academic subjects, prepared using advanced technologies, and constantly updated, to be of a high degree of scientific accuracy, in order to achieve the set goals.
