The First Creative Student Forum for Short Stories for Arab and Iraqi University Students

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Kadhim Al-Majidi, President of Ashur University, the university, in coordination with its Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations, organized the first Creative Student Forum for Short Stories for students from Arab and Iraqi universities on Sunday, February 8, 2026, under the slogan: "Our Short Stories Tell a Lot… Our Students' Creativity in Preserving Our Arabic Language."

Experts and writers from the Iraqi Writers Union, along with distinguished professors from Ashur University, participated in judging the submitted works. This forum is the first of its kind and represents the first step towards a series of scientific and cultural forums that Ashur University aims to organize annually, God willing. The forum aims to enhance the talent of university students in writing in Arabic and to encourage the use of free expression in addressing the challenges facing contemporary youth. Following the in-person judging session, all participants and members of the judging panel were honored, and monetary and honorary prizes were awarded to the top three winners. The judging panel praised the seriousness of the topics addressed by the stories submitted to the forum, their linguistic structure, the beauty of their words, and the goodness of their expression, wishing Ashur University continued success and commending this pioneering step to preserve the Arabic language, which Ashur University has achieved based on its vision and mission and its keenness to encourage the younger generation and involve them in finding solutions to the challenges they face.
